Preview Of The State Of The Union Address

The State of the Union will be spoken by President Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 and will be addressed to the 116th United States Congress. This will be taken place in the chamber of the United States House of Representatives. Originally the State of the Union address was scheduled to be given January 29th but due to the government shutdown they postponed the address.

For those who don’t know what this address is, the State of the Union address is when the the President of the United States delivers an annual message to Congress and describes the condition of the country, outlines the nation’s most serious problems, and proposes his annual program of legislation. The State of the Union comes from Article II, Section 3 in the Constitution.

The State of the Union also allows guests to the speech. 15 of the guests who will join first Lady Melania Trump in her box include beneficiaries of Trump’s tax cuts, a police officer who adopted a heroin addict’s baby and families who have lost loved ones at the hands of the MS-13 gang in New York and more.
