Tha Carter V was dropped September 27, 2018, on Lil Wayne’s 36th birthday. The collection starts out with an audio recording titled I Love You Dwayne, featuring Lil Wayne’s mother explain how proud she is of his success over the last years since he blew up with Cash Money Records. Due to Cash Money Records violating Wayne’s contract terms, withholding money, and delaying his album Tha Carter V several times according to “The Billboard”, Wayne sued Cash Money Records on June 6, 2018, causing his album to drop later than expected. Wayne is now signed with Young Money Entertainment, Republic Records, and Universal Music Group as his labels.

One of the single title Don’t Cry, features the recently deceased XXXTENTACION, and the single Famous features his 19-year old daughter, Reginae Carter. Other artists featured on this album consists of Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Sosamann, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, Mack Main, and Nivea. Also, Lil Wayne has re-entered the Billboard Artist 100 chart. Tha Carter V has 140,879 album sales and a streaming count of 433,018,729 (as of the time this article was constructed.

The largest question rising is: What will Wayne do next? Will he drop Tha Carter VI? To answer that question, Lil Wayne has plans to retire from the music industry. Starting back in 2011, “I’m bowing out still on top, I’ll make you all want me when I retire,” and, “ I honestly think my career is unfair to my kids. Honestly, this is the real truth. So about 30, 31, 32 I got to get ready to retire.” With his new album drop blowing up, this just may be what he meant by   “I’m blowing out, still on top.”
