In celebration of President’s Day, we have gathered 10 weird or fun facts about former Presidents. The holiday which falls on the 3rd monday of February, was originally made in honour of George Washington. We hope you’ll get a good laugh or learn something new, while enjoying the day off, in celebration of some of the most powerful leaders in history.

  1. George Washington was the only president unanimously elected. Meaning all of the state representatives voted for him.
  2. The “S” in Harry S. Truman does not stand for anything.
  3. Abraham Lincoln was the tallest president at 6 feet 4 inches tall
  4. James Garfield, the 20th president, was the first left-handed president.
  5. John Quincy Adams skinny dipped in the Potomac River daily.
  6. Martin Van Buren is accredited for the phrase OK.
  7. Franklin Pierce was arrested for running over a woman with his horse.
  8. Grover Cleveland’s adopted daughter became his wife in later years. (Kinda gross)
  9. Woodrow Wilson painted his golf balls black during the winter.
  10. George H.W Bush celebrated his 90th birthday by skydiving.
